Introducing Ana Maria Sanchez of Amaria

Posted by Lisa Chouinard - Feto Soap on 29 Aug 2008 | Tagged as: houston craft mafia

The designer behind Amaria is Ana Maria Sanchez. Born to Paraguayan parents, Ana Maria was raised in Houston, Texas. As a child, Ana Maria was impressed by her family’s South American style. She was taught the importance of style and an appreciation for all things handcrafted at an early age. Her mother taught her that women must always respect and adorn their bodies.

Ana Maria studied the native lace making in Paraguay called nanduti which means spider web. Her logo incorporates the nanduti. She pursued her love for design, studying fashion design and merchandising. The pursuit of luxurious, impeccably made designs fine tuned her eye for the exquisite.
Her family and friends encouraged her to pursue her longtime dream of creating her own designs. In 2007, Ana Maria started her own company. She is currently designing feminine, delicate, jewelry in sterling silver and 14 karat gold fill. Her designs catch and intrigue the eye.

Introducing: Joy Carpenter of SCINTILLATING JOY!

Posted by Lisa Chouinard - Feto Soap on 02 Jul 2008 | Tagged as: houston craft mafia

Scintillating JoyMeet new member Joy Carpenter of SCINTILLATING JOY!

Not for the faint of heart, SCINTILLATING JOY has the same whimsical, over-the-top exuberance as its spirited namesake designer—a woman who dreams with her eyes wide open, dances whenever she feels like it, and sees each and every day as an opportunity to passionately pursue all things beautiful and true. Joy Carpenter grew up in suburban Houston, moved to Austin to study theatre at the University of Texas, but earned her BA in Religious Studies instead. After having lived in China for a year and Atlanta for a short while, Joy moved back to “the ‘burbs” (Sugar Land) and decided to share her eclectic assortment of carefully hand-crafted fashion accessories and home décor with the world!
